One day, one world, two conversations

On June 25, 2023, more than 3,000 people from 116 countries were matched with a
conversation partner from the other side of the world to discuss global questions. Does hard work always lead to a better life? Are older generations living at the expense of younger ones? Should every country accept refugees? Should state and religion always be separate?

The World Talks Documentary brings you intimate portraits of four people from around the world. As we get to know their lives, stories, families, and communities, we understand why they think the way that they do about these important issues.

Huck and Raidah

Huck lives in a yurt in Finland. Though he lives in one of the richest countries in Europe, he chooses to live without running water or electricity, and tries to reduce his carbon footprint wherever possible.

Raidah, is a marketing manager in Dhaka, Bangladesh. She is passionate about traveling, and takes part in group trips around the world. Outside of her job, she also spends time helping people in her community get informed about their rights.


Junaice and John

Junaice grew up on a farm in Arusha, Tanzania. Today, she works in safari tourism. Family means everything to her, and her job allows her to financially support her parents and younger siblings.

Jon is a composer from the Netherlands who lives in a small apartment in a quiet corner of Amsterdam. He has dedicated his whole life to making music, even when it meant struggling financially. Now, in his 70s, he is able to live off of his work, and even dreams of traveling
